Sometimes, when I turn on my Polaroid 40 in LCD HDTV, the volume doesn’t work?

Question by Henry B.: Sometimes, when I turn on my Polaroid 40 in LCD HDTV, the volume doesn’t work?
It doesn’t even work when I switch it to DVD. After turning it off and on several times, it works. What could cause this?

Sounds like a defect to me. I have a problem with my polaroid 40 inch lcd hdtv too where sometimes when I turn on my computer that is hooked up to it, the screen freezes until I unplug it and plug it back in.

If it’s still under warranty, try returning it. Unfortunately, mine is not :(

Q&A: Why are 42″ plasma TVs usually 720p and similar LCD TVs are 1080p?

Question by Bare Bear: Why are 42″ plasma TVs usually 720p and similar LCD TVs are 1080p?
Why would you want a really nice TV that was only 720p?

Best answer:

Answer by Cornelius
Because you don’t always need 1080p!

People are told that 1080p is the best and they shouldn’t bother with anything else! This is a bunch of crap!!!

Depending on how far away you sit from your TV is what determines whether you need 1080p or 720p! 1080p is better for closer seating distances while 720p is better for farther seating distances! If you sit too far away from a 1080p TV, it will look the same as 720p. If you sit too close to a 720p TV, the image will look grainy!

Example; At my home i sit 10ft away from my TV. So either i need a 42-50″ 720p…which is quite affordable for me…or i get 55-80″ 1080p TV…which will be WAY out of my price range! See the link below for the chart i used.

The way my living room is set up, i simply can’t move closer to the TV. Otherwise, i would’ve gotten a 1080p TV.

Sharp 40 in LCD tv. Standard refresh rate vs frame refresh rate?

Question by surfsideup11: Sharp 40 in LCD tv. Standard refresh rate vs frame refresh rate?
I am looking to purchase a 40 in tv and there is a deal going on with a 40 LCD Sharp tv (Product number LC-40D68UT). It’s 1080p but the question emerges as is it 60hz or 120hz? I have looked several places and called the sharp corporation but I still don’t know the answer.

As stated in the topic it says it has a 60hz standard refresh rate but a 120hz frame refresh rate. What’s the difference between standard refresh and frame refresh? Any input would help

If you want a great picture, Two things to look for when your shopping around, check to see if its a 1080p, if its a 720p the picture will not be at its best, next make sure the TV has a Refresh Rate: 120Hz, if the Refresh Rate 50 to 60Hz your picture will not be Crisp Clear, many of the stores out there are offering Big Sales on TVs in the $ 299 or $ 349 for that price its a sure bet your Refresh Rate will be 50 to 60Hz, If your looking on line at TVs and it does Not say what the Refresh Rate Is, Its more than likely going to be 50 to 60Hz

you shouldn’t need to change any settings. any input whether its a DVD or a TV channel thats 720 will show up 720 as long as your TV has higher capabilities. when your TV has lower capabilities thats when you run into trouble.
