The Playstation 1 does NOT do HD component signals....

Take a CLOSE LOOK at the COLOR of your Video connections on your Playstation...

Red Green and Blue connections go to Red Green and Blue Connectors on your TV set....

Yellow White and Red connections on your Playstation go to Yellow White and Red connections on your TV

You NEW SONY TV should have them....if not on the BACK of your TV, then it would be on the SIDE or FRONT of the TV.

Most consumer and guru guides a like will tell you that you don't really see the advantages of 1080p until you break 40", and more so 50". So at 37" and smaller, 720p is really all you need. Having 1080p won't hurt your viewing experience at all, but it just won't add a lot to it, so you don't get much return on the investment (poor bang for the buck).

There are definitely theoretical advantages to 1080p. From a technical standpoint its definitely better. But consumer groups of various types have just come to find that you don't get the benefit of those advantages in smaller TVs in terms of real world viewing experience.

Go with a 720p set and focus on getting a good brand name and a good model. Some models to consider,

Panasonic TC-L32C12
Samsung LN32B460
Sony KDL-32L5000
LG 32LH20

Those are all in the $ 500-$ 600 range I think on regular price. But are often on sale and can be had for $ 450-$ 500. Check out Best Buy, they constantly have one or two of those on sale.

If you're asking the question, probably not. In terms of outputting video games, there isn't that much difference in the picture. In terms of live action sources like Blu-Ray, there's a noticeable difference. But you most likely wouldn't notice it unless you had a 720p and a 1080p sideby side...

You should easily be able to get a good one for under $ 1000. No point compromising for anything other than 1080p... Have a look around http://hdtv.omani.ac

Well on most HD LCD TV's you can, i'm not sure about yours. I would go into the menu and try and find the color option. then make the contrast, tint, and color the way you want.
