How do I pick out the best HDMI cables for my new 1080p LCD TV?

Question by JayRust: How do I pick out the best HDMI cables for my new 1080p LCD TV?
I’ll need 1 to run from my dvr to the tv and I’ll be hooking some devices up like a blu-ray player, game consoles, etc. Thank you!

Answer by Ulrich S
I myself went all out and bought monster cables. I spend $ 6,000.00 on a system and and extra $ 200.00 seemed worth it. And I did see a difference from my son’s cheap pair to my set. People will say buy cheap but they must need glasses or not a very good TV.

What is the probability that the sample of kindergarten children has a mean height of less than 40.3 inches?

Question by warrior: What is the probability that the sample of kindergarten children has a mean height of less than 40.3 inches?

Kindergarten children have heights that are approximately normally distributed about a mean of 39.6 inches and a standard deviation of 1.6 inches. If a random sample of 28 is taken, what is the probability that the sample of kindergarten children has a mean height of less than 40.3 inches?

i tried (40.39.6)/(1.6/√28) = 2.3155 and that is my z-score.. correct? so then the probability should be .4896 right? wells its not…. what am i doing wrong here?

Best answer:

Answer by Gerry
For one thing, a simple look at the fact that 4.3 > 39.6 should let you know that the answer must be larger than 1/2 so you should notice that your answer is incorrect.

The value 40.3 inches is (40.3 – 39.6) / 1.6 = .7 / 1.6 = .4375 standard deviations from the mean.

The probability that the mean height is less than 40.3 inches is .6991

What are the best settings for a Sony Bravia 40 inch LCD 1080p 120htz TV?

Question by Savader: What are the best settings for a Sony Bravia 40 inch LCD 1080p 120htz TV?
I recently bought a Sony Bravia 40 inch LCD 1080p 120htz television, and I gotta say that it looks amazing with all of the settings I have chose, but I just want to know if it could look better if I change certain things in the settings menu, or if I should turn off or lower some of them if I do not need them. I have HDMI for playing my PS3 and watching my Blu-Rays, and I have RGB for my Xbox 360. I would like only people who are gamers with at least a PS3 or Xbox 360(both would be awesome), who have this same TV, and who are pretty smart when it comes to electronics. People can share what settings are pretty good for them, even if they don’t know that much about TVs, but it MUST BE FROM SOMEONE THAT HAS THE SAME TV AS MINE. I like other people giving their opinions, but only when it isn’t redundant to what I’m talking about.

Btw, if you don’t have a 40 inch like me, that is fine. I only included the size in case there are certain settings only that size has available, or in case some things work differently on different sizes…I don’t think it does, but I am not that great when it comes to TVs, so I threw it in there.
Btw, sorry I put 120htz by accident. I meant to put 120Hz, but kept ending up trying to spell it out…I know, I’m stupid on that deal :P

Q&A: Used 60 inch Plasma TV worth $750?

Question by Steve: Used 60 inch Plasma TV worth 0?
My work has a used 60 inch plasma (LG 60pc1dc) for sale for $ 750. I’m not sure if I should buy it. So I’m asking here, is it worth it?

Pros:
Only seen 12 hours use.
Huge screen, of course.

Cons:
It was moved via van once, out of packaging.
It powers up, but I’ve not tested (nor could test) every option/connector.
No remote, no warranty.
Older plasma technology.
About 3 years old, wall mounted, powered down most of the time. Is this an issue?
Newer technology TVs, granted a bit smaller of course, can be purchased all day long for $ 750 – $ 1000. TVs this size are also under $ 2000 now, and are not plasma.

I’m leaning toward a 47 inch that’s brand spankin’ new instead, but if someone here raises their hand and says “Buy it you fool!!” then I want get get that opinion and the reasons.

Thanks

I don’t know the specs for both, but if you can, compare the specs. If they’re both similar, then get the 60 in AFTER you get a chance to try it out.

Turn it on, let it run for about 5-10 minutes. Make sure the picture quality looks fine, there’s no problems with the screen. See if there’s any really dark or really white spots that aren’t supposed to be. Make sure there’s no physical damage that you can see as well (on the screen, if it’s on like the back, don’t worry about it unless it’s a port or something like that).

If you don’t get a chance to try out the television, DO NOT BUY IT even if the person selling it to you keeps saying it’s in really good, top condition. Otherwise you might be wasting money…

Specs to look for is resolution, the higher the number, the better (1920×1080 is true HD, go higher if you want). That’s really it, you can check contrast, but that doesn’t matter very much…
