can you tell the diffrence between a 32 inch tv in 1080p and 720p?

Question by seaback: can you tell the diffrence between a 32 inch tv in 1080p and 720p?
i want to buy a HDTV thats not to expensive but i want the best picture you can get on a ps3 i want for sure a tv in the 30-37 inch range (but on that size tv can you tell the diffrence in 1080p from 720p) and are there any suggestion on a 32″ TV in either format ($ 200-$ 699)

Answer by AM
Depending on your source (PS3 is a good source) andf the viewing distance (no more than 2.5 times the diagonal size), you will see the difference with HD/Blu-Ray DVDs and 1080i cable programs.
Unfortunately, there are no 1080p (true 1080p, 1920×1080) for under $ 699, so you either have to lower your expectations or raise the price range.

I have no DVI or HDMI port on my laptop, only VGA. I don’t know if I should get a 32″ 720p or 1080p TV.

try 720p it might be ok, but 1080p will be beyond the power of the video card – as for the vga connection that will be fine

Q&A: Why are 42″ plasma TVs usually 720p and similar LCD TVs are 1080p?

Question by Bare Bear: Why are 42″ plasma TVs usually 720p and similar LCD TVs are 1080p?
Why would you want a really nice TV that was only 720p?

Answer by Cornelius
Because you don’t always need 1080p!

People are told that 1080p is the best and they shouldn’t bother with anything else! This is a bunch of crap!!!

Depending on how far away you sit from your TV is what determines whether you need 1080p or 720p! 1080p is better for closer seating distances while 720p is better for farther seating distances! If you sit too far away from a 1080p TV, it will look the same as 720p. If you sit too close to a 720p TV, the image will look grainy!

Example; At my home i sit 10ft away from my TV. So either i need a 42-50″ 720p…which is quite affordable for me…or i get 55-80″ 1080p TV…which will be WAY out of my price range! See the link below for the chart i used.

The way my living room is set up, i simply can’t move closer to the TV. Otherwise, i would’ve gotten a 1080p TV.

you shouldn’t need to change any settings. any input whether its a DVD or a TV channel thats 720 will show up 720 as long as your TV has higher capabilities. when your TV has lower capabilities thats when you run into trouble.

How do I pick out the best HDMI cables for my new 1080p LCD TV?

Question by JayRust: How do I pick out the best HDMI cables for my new 1080p LCD TV?
I’ll need 1 to run from my dvr to the tv and I’ll be hooking some devices up like a blu-ray player, game consoles, etc. Thank you!

I myself went all out and bought monster cables. I spend $ 6,000.00 on a system and and extra $ 200.00 seemed worth it. And I did see a difference from my son’s cheap pair to my set. People will say buy cheap but they must need glasses or not a very good TV.
