The Phillips has a sharper picture. The TV screen is made up of color dots, called Pixels. The Phillips has 1,080 color dots in a one-inch square. The Samsung has only 720 color dots per one-inch square.

The “p” after 720 & 1080, as well as 480, means “progressive” scan. There was “i”, which meant “Interlaced” scanning. Old TV’s used Interlace scanning.

Question by : need help picking from 2 tvs, plasma 720p over lcd 1080p?
im trying to pick from Samsung PS42C450 42-inch 600Hz Widescreen HD Ready Plasma TV with Freeview ( £352 ) or LG 42LD450 42-inch Widescreen Full HD 1080p LCD TV with Freeview (£366)

not sure which is best , will be used for ps3 alot and alot of just normal tv ( virgin cable ) and alot of movies( yes i am very lazy i know )

is it possible to make my Emerson 32″ 720p 60Hz LCD HDTV my computer screen using a vga to hdmi cable?

Question by : is it possible to make my Emerson 32″ 720p 60Hz LCD HDTV my computer screen using a vga to hdmi cable?

I have a gateway laptop 8510GZ and it has a vga connector on the back. My TV(LC320EMXF) does not have a vga connector but instead has a HDMI connecter and a S-Video connector. does that help?

Only if your computer provides digital output on the VGA jack (rare). Check the specs on your video card to see if it’s analog only, which is what I would expect. If it is, no passive adapter such as you’ve suggested will work. Except as noted, VGA is analog and HDMI is digital. The two are incompatible.

Would the PS3 look great in a 32 inch LCD HDTV with a resolution of 720p?

Question by Javier E. M: Would the PS3 look great in a 32 inch LCD HDTV with a resolution of 720p?
The reason I’m asking this, is because I’m going to get a 32 inch LCD HDTV, with a resolution of 720p, which is a Panasonic Viera. Is 720p, considered to be HD? Or, does it only apply to 1080p? Thanks.

Best answer:

Question by : Panasonic TC-P42C2 42-Inch 720p Plasma HDTV vs Toshiba 40FT1U 40-Inch 1080p 60 Hz LCD HDTV?
which one would you buy? It is intended to act as a TV on the wall that we can stream content to over the web/network; show status of systems in an office environment; leaning towards the Panasonic, but would welcome your feedback. Thanks in advance!

1080p.. better resolution and despite what some people say you do see the difference on a 32″

I would get bigger though as a 42 wont be that much more.
