Question by hotrodhedda: why can’t I hook my Sony Playstation 1 up tp my new Sony 40″ LCD TV? INVALID FORMAT?!?!?!?!?!?! ?
The tv reads invalid format when I try to hook up my old sony playstation1 through the component cables (the green, blue, red, white, red cables) into the back of my new LCD TV. Can anyone tell me why or have a solution for me? Or should I just give up now?

What are the best settings for a Sony Bravia 40 inch LCD 1080p 120htz TV?

Question by Savader: What are the best settings for a Sony Bravia 40 inch LCD 1080p 120htz TV?
I recently bought a Sony Bravia 40 inch LCD 1080p 120htz television, and I gotta say that it looks amazing with all of the settings I have chose, but I just want to know if it could look better if I change certain things in the settings menu, or if I should turn off or lower some of them if I do not need them. I have HDMI for playing my PS3 and watching my Blu-Rays, and I have RGB for my Xbox 360. I would like only people who are gamers with at least a PS3 or Xbox 360(both would be awesome), who have this same TV, and who are pretty smart when it comes to electronics. People can share what settings are pretty good for them, even if they don’t know that much about TVs, but it MUST BE FROM SOMEONE THAT HAS THE SAME TV AS MINE. I like other people giving their opinions, but only when it isn’t redundant to what I’m talking about.

Btw, if you don’t have a 40 inch like me, that is fine. I only included the size in case there are certain settings only that size has available, or in case some things work differently on different sizes…I don’t think it does, but I am not that great when it comes to TVs, so I threw it in there.
Btw, sorry I put 120htz by accident. I meant to put 120Hz, but kept ending up trying to spell it out…I know, I’m stupid on that deal :P

What kind of DVD player should I buy for my Sony bravia 40″ HDTV?

Question by : What kind of DVD player should I buy for my Sony bravia 40″ HDTV?
Does the HDTV upscale SD dvds or should I get I invest in a blu ray player?

Best answer:

Answer by Nick
Get a blueray, other formats of dvd are going to obsolete here sometime in the future… personally I would wait a year or two when you could buy something at a reasonable price that would record to blueray.

Samsung all the way. My brother has a Samsung 1080p 52″ LCD. All I can say is – b-e-a-utiful lol! I was recently at best buy inquiring about Samsung’s ToC TV’s and the LG Scarlet TV’s. The salesman said that Samsung is the top company the whole way. Whether the normal LCD or the ToC, Samsung is the best!

The companys are not obgligated to fix the tv then and there, they can only guarentee that you wont pay anything to fix it.

Sony is a good company, and if the unit where to fail right after warranty, they would prolly cover it.

Connectind PC (DVI) to FULL HD LCD 40″ SONY (HDMI)?

Question by Kakisback: Connectind PC (DVI) to FULL HD LCD 40″ SONY (HDMI)?
TV:
SONY KDL-40V4000
40″
FULL HD 1080p

PC:
GPU – GeForce XFX 9800 GTX+ Black Edition
Output – DVI

Adapting both of these with a DVI-HDMI cable i get a default resolution of a normal LCD/CRT monitor 1280×1024
and when i set it to full HD 1920×1080 progressive (60 Hz) i get an image which is too big for my monitor (taskbar and all edges are out of the picture). When i set it to 720p the zoom effect only gets worse.

If you know something about this problem please share your knowledge.
How do i get it to fit to the screen??

ps. please don’t be a smart a** and tell me “your TV is set on ZOOM mode” believe me i’ve double checked these things.

TY for helping :)

I also have a Sony Bravia and it’s connected to my computer using a DVI-to-HDMI cable: http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f347/armchairaviator/computer/IMG_0880c.jpg

There is a setting called Display Area in one of the setup menus on my Bravia, which controls Overscan/Underscan. It must be set to “full pixel” for the computer image to be displayed edge-to-edge with no overscan (edges cut off) or underscan (black border on all 4 sides).

See if that setting is available on your Sony, and good luck.
